Inside the Ropes
Singapore's first White-Collar Kickboxing & Boxing Event
March 31, 2010, Singapore – Get ready to rumble as we are back for Singapore's White-Collar Boxing & Muaythai fight night - 14 regular men and women will be undetaking 12 weeks of professional training before entering the ring for the ultimate test of physical, mental stamina and endurance. More importantly they will be doing so in the name of a good cause. SHOWDOWN Inside the Ropes II is a fresh, exciting and unique sporting entertainment event that aims to create a synergy between sport and community in aid of a charitable causes. The first event supported the Bone Marrow Donor Programme with ten’s of thousands of dollars raised and over 40 people succesfully registering to be donors.
The Ritz-Carlton, June 12th, will provide the backdrop with bright lights, flashing camera bulbs and a boisterous audience for the intrepid white-collar fighter. Hearts will be racing at a thousand kilometres per hour; no hiding place now with the 3 rounds lasting much longer than one thinks with the adrenalin pumping through the veins. Boxing and Muaythai fights are just like that, the focus is intense but not for one moment like the second it takes to throw a punch or kick, but for the full round where you shut out the outside world. These combat sports provide and ultimate test of physical and mental stamina and endurance. The fighters are generally accepted as the fittest athletes in the world. In the sub-amateur category of white-collar boxing and Muaythai, participants fight for only 3 rounds of 2 minutes only.
SHOWDOWN Inside the Ropes is an amateur Muaythai & boxing exhibition under traditional white-collar rules using larger (more padded gloves), protective headgear and shoter rounds. The participant’s knowledge of the sport ranges from beginners to more skilled amateur athletes, but mainly this event allows regular guys and women the opportunity to learn to box or Thai box and the opportunity to get into the ring for once in their lives. The majority will be newcomers to the sport and have never put on a glove or shin guards in their life. The participants of the event will be working professionals and businessmen who take to boxing or Muaythai as a hobby or new interest.
Often martial arts sports is misunderstood, but SHOWDOWN Inside the Ropes event and FightClub.SG hopes to shed a different light on the sport of Muaythai and boxing and aims to promote quality, competitive and fair martial arts events in Singapore and around the region first at White-collar level and later at Amateur or Professional levels. FightClub.SG aims to promote the best events in any martial arts field from Boxing to MMA, seeing its best form of disciplined expression in the ring during competition.
