FIGHTCLUB.SG was started by John Leung in 2007.

John is passionate about sports, moreover Boxing and other forms of martial arts. Growing up in the England he witnessed the glory days of British Boxing – Lloyd Honeyghan, Barry McGuigan, Nigel Benn, Naseem Hamed and Lennox Lewis to name a few.

After moving to Asia, his hobby turned into an exciting reality of promoting when he helped put on ‘Black Tie Fight Night 1’ in June 2006, Singapore’s first professional boxing card since 1989. Covered by ESPNStar Sports, it was media success witnessed by millions around Asia and 600 privileged live audience. At the end of 2006 his event company PURE details promoted ‘Showdown In Singapore’ , a welterweight title fight and the first public professional bout in Singapore since 1989. A 1,000 strong crowd witnessed a 6 fight card headlined by the national champions of Australia and the Philippines for a WBF world title.

In 2007 John started the White-collar boxing scene with Phil Greening and Ian Mullane with aim to popularise sport amongst the masses and raise money for charitable good causes at the same time. Sell out crowds of 400 and 600 witnessed the 2 highly entertaining black tie events in June and November respectively. Following that success White-collar boxing was here is here to stay in Singapore and hopes of reviving the Amateur scene are well on the way with the reformation of SABA – Singapore Amateur Boxing Association and Asian Youth Olympics participation.

John by profession is a media and marketing professional with over 16 years experience in international integrated communications work in experiential marketing through events, branding and promotional sales. He was responsible for off-air and integrated marketing for the first 2 MTV Asia Awards. Previously, John spent his career with M&C Saatchi, BDH/TBWA, and Coca-Cola Enterprises in the UK.
